WEDDING INVITATION WORDING GUIDE

11/18/2021

Are you staring at a blinking cursor, struggling to find the perfect sentiment to use on your wedding invitations? I get the feeling. I felt the same way when my husband, Zach and I were designing the invitations for our Pennsylvania wedding! That’s why I created this wedding invitation wording guide, to help couples like you walk through the invitation wording essentials.
Below, I will answer the following questions in my wedding invitation wording guide!
  • How should I word my wedding invitations?
  • What comes first on an invitation?
  • Where should I include the wedding date, time, and location?
  • Do I need to spell out the date and time? (November 21st, 2021 or The Twenty-First of November, Two-Thousand and Twenty-One)
  • Should I include the full ceremony and reception address(es) on the invitation? (Pump House B&B vs. "Pump House Weddings and B&B, 42 Pump House Lane, Bloomsburg, PA 17815")
  • Can I customize my wedding invitation wording, add song lyrics, insert a Bible verse or favorite quote, or include a poem on the invitation?
  • Where should I include who the hosts are; or where should my parents' names be on the invitation?
  • Does wedding invitation wording need to be traditional?
  • I'm having a modern wedding. How can I make my wedding invitation wording more contemporary?
  • Can I include a little detail about my fiancé and I on the invitation (how we met, or our special proposal story)?

Do you need some additional help with your invitation wording? I'm happy to help - just send me a message or better yet, more details about what you're looking for, and I can put together a quick estimate for you! I'm happy to sit down with you for a free wedding stationery consultation if you'd like as well. This will give us a chance to really dive into all the juicy details: your wedding Pinterest board, the paper choices and printing methods I offer (hello letterpress and foil printing!), all of the envelope colors you can choose from, what items you need (or maybe didn't know you needed!), and more.

I also have a collection of wording examples as a starting point available on my website, if you'd like to check those out now! Here are some more wedding etiquette do's and don'ts as well.

Ultimately, it's best to remain true to yourself and who you are as a couple when you put together the verbiage for your wedding stationery. No one is just like you, and you're the only one who can really tell your guests what to expect at your wedding ceremony and reception. Set the tone using language that reflects your personalities, interests, and gives your guests all the most important details. And have fun with it!

It is getting cooler here in Central Pennsylvania, and I just love a good Fall wedding! I don't mind when the temperatures start to decrease and the earth begins to sleep… it means that snow is coming soon too (which I LOVE). It also means sledding for my two little ones (they're three and five currently - this is a very big deal).

And for fall couples, we’re getting close to wedding crunch time – those last couple of months before the big day that are filled with details and last minute DIY projects. If you're asking yourself: What should I bring to my wedding, I've got you covered below!

As you finalize your preparations, think about packing a wedding emergency kit for the day of. You never know what may come up, and trust me, you’ll want to be prepared for anything and avoid having a sweet friend or bridesmaid run to the store for you. What if you get sick at your wedding? What if your dress rips? What if mosquitoes unexpectedly attack? What if it rains on your wedding day? What if your feet start to hurt?

To help, I created this handy little list of wedding day survival kit items that you can throw in your bag. So if wedding day disaster strikes, you’re ready!

WEDDING DAY ETIQUETTE DEMYSTIFIED

11/11/2021

So many time-honored “rules” surround weddings. Can I tell my guests what to wear? Should I tell my guests to leave their phones in their pockets? Do I need to invite all the kiddos in the family?

Today I'm exploring the reasoning behind and need for some of this traditional wedding etiquette mumbo jumbo. Of course, these are suggestions, and sometimes rules are meant to be broken, but they act as great guidelines should any questions come up.

Below, I will answer the following tricky questions:
  • Should my wedding guests have a plus one on the invitation?
  • Do I have to invite kids to my wedding?
  • Wedding dress codes
  • Should I give my wedding guests my registry information?
  • Is it okay for my wedding guests to RSVP online?
  • Do I need to include my parents' names on the wedding invitation?
  • Do I really need an inner and outer envelope for the invitation?
  • Should I include postage on the RSVP envelope for my guests?
  • Do I have to give my guests directions to my ceremony and reception?
  • Do I need to greet my wedding guests after the ceremony?
  • Is it okay to ban cell phones from my wedding ceremony or reception?
  • Do I have to send thank you cards to my wedding guests? Is it rude to skip thank you cards?

Relax, and let’s dive in!
